Hi.

Welcome to our blog! Enjoy your stay!

Turning Point ahead…

Turning Point ahead…

Hello all,

It has been a long time since I’ve posted on the blog. Jewberly Emiris has went through a LOT of changes since it’s inception in 2013. I originally started it as a photo sharing platform so my (oldest) sister in Texas could see the photos I was taking in …High School. — Yes, High School.

It continued to morph into a place to document my new sewing hobby, dip my toe into YouTube and our (Kimberly, TaMera and I’s) thrift store scores and other things that just were a part of our life.

Over this last year I’ve really been considering What do I do with the blog? TaMera and I have had multiple discussions on how to go about with it and we are really stuck. Obviously no longer being in school changes schedules and life dynamics. Locations have changed with Kimberly in Texas and TaMera and I both living in Kansas. It almost feels like everything in our life has changed. I suppose life can feel that way in a span of 10 years.

But there’s something I’d still like the blog to be:

A Place to be Creative

From the beginning Jewberly Emiris has always been a creative outlet for me. (I’d assume Kimberly and TaMera would say the same.) From designing the blog design, learning a tiny bit of code, taking photos and documenting my sewing projects and thrift finds to even writing the posts in a (hopefully) exciting and entertaining way. It was…is a way to stretch myself. The challenge is going to be…Where do I go from here? Do I step back to my roots and start sharing sewing projects again? Try to learn to cook? Talk living with Type 1 Diabetes? Review Gluten Free and Dairy Free foods? Document apartment life…and how almost everything in our apartment is is either dumpster saved or thrifted. …and IKEA. IKEA is great for furniture. The possibilities are almost endless.

But with the “endless possibilities” in mind…time is not.

With everything going on in life I haven’t been sewing from scratch much. I word it that way because I have continued to use my skill with altering purchased clothes to fit us better and mending this and that. But choosing a fabric, pattern and sewing start to finish I think I haven’t completed in maybe two and half years. I’m hopeful for the rest of 2023 but also could be setting myself up for disappointment.

Between work, church and trying to be somewhat real-life social. My schedule is full and my energy level depleted. But speaking with a Mental Health Counselor she was commenting on even in busy times we can’t give up what brings us joy and fulfillment. In the past, sewing and blogging has done that for me. So over the next month, I’m going to be reexamining my life to determine what does continues to bring me Joy.

Stay tuned… -’- Jewel
